Children are an extension of you

But you do not control whether they spiral left, right, or continue straight ahead

Life will try to curl them back up

Unfurl, unfurl

Let them adapt and sway

Too stiff and they get blown away

A strong core with immeasurable pride

Occasional upkeep and untangling required

Getting hung up is part of the race

Do as nature knows

Do not always make haste

Winds do not always blow

Giving rest to our nose

Strong fabrics woven together

Allows life’s difficulties to bounce off during any weather

It may hurt and it may sting

But patchwork makes us more colorfully and tougher together

I salute you because of what you represent

May I always have the wisdom and foresight to never forget

Life’s lies and deceit I carry with me

May I share the lessons with you

Leaving behind the scars already suffered

Hoping you don’t get weight down, waiving higher and higher

Clearing the path for others

To sway whichever way their little hearts desire
